YOU DESERVE HOLISTIC HEALTHCARE

Step 1: Set your long-term goal.

The best thing you can do for overall health is a combination of simple movement (e.g., daily spine mobility, walking every day) and strength training. We lose muscle mass naturally as we age. If we do not combat that loss, we will suffer with fragility. An amazing end goal is around 3 days of structured training per week. And, when your system can tolerate it, add in at least 1 session of higher-intensity cardio to get your heart pumping to the max (this could be on the same day as a strength session). That may seem daunting, but you can get here slowly and incrementally over time. As each habit builds, it will feel seamless. And, any good routine should be ADAPTABLE. You can adjust as needed any time.

Here is an example of what a full week could look like.

Step 2: Understand your options.

Consistency does not require rigidity! You may feel different day-to-day because of whatever life has thrown at your nervous system (a bad night’s sleep, stressful news, poor nutrition, lack of hydration, etc. etc. etc). Is it ideal to fatigue all major muscle groups and get your heart pumping every week? Per the research, sure. But, real life isn’t black and white. You need the know-how to be able to adapt your weekly routine to meet your needs. Any movement is good movement. Any amount of time devoted to your health is worth it.

An amazing starting point is 1 session of strength per week. Try to hit all body regions (upper body, core, lower body). Do what you can, and build slowly.

Here is an example of what a lighter week could look like.
